The ICGC is a public entity depending on the Government of Catalonia. It has the competences among others, of collecting, store and disseminate geoscientific data. It promotes and carry out geological and geophysical studies and provides geoinformation to the public, covering the different disciplines of geology: geological resources (e.g. geothermal energy, groundwater), seismology, geologic risks, etc. It integrates the competence of the Geological Survey of Catalonia (SGC).
